She was predeceased by: her parents, James O. Belvin and Carrie V. Belvin; her son E. Slater Hurst, Jr.; her husbands, E. Slater Hurst, Sr. and Alvin Poe; and her siblings, Merle Fredrick, Lois King and James O. Belvin, Jr..

She is survived by: her children, Cynthia Bradley of Newport News, S. Wayne Hurst of Newport News and Connie Shelton (Preston) of Moon. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
