She was predeceased by: her parents, Allen Hairston and Rosie Johnson Hairston; and her brothers, Toby Hairston and James Allen Hairston. She is survived by: her husband Vernice Crouse; her children, Mekela Crouse, Darshelle Verra (John), Vernice Crouse II and Apollo Crouse (Shonita); and her stepson Bruce Davis. She is also survived by five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
