She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Preston and Katie Hughes Preston; her husband John E. Hale; and her brother Casey Preston. She is survived by: her children, Sonya M. Penn (Torrey) of Martinsville, VA and Glenn O. Pilson (Jennifer) of Windermere, FL; her grandchildren, Alexus Pilson, Aaliyah Pilson, Tyler Pilson, Ashley Pilson and Brody Pilson; her siblings, Anolia G. Hairston (Tyrone) of Charlotte, NC, Tammy France (John) of Martinsville, VA, Ada France (Larry) of San Antonio, TX, James A. Preston of Martinsville, VA, Curtis Preston of Martinsville, VA, Tim Preston (Sheryl) of Martinsville, VA and Terry Preston of Martinsville, VA; and her stepgrandchildren, Tevin Penn, Tmesha Penn and Misty Osborne. She is also survived by friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.

In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing will be required.

“I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother Sonya and Glenn. I did not know her very well but as your first cousin came to visit you two for the night when we were children. What always stood out about your mom to me was how very clean your home was and how she like clockwork she put meals on the table for you. She 3as a great mom and I know you will her dearly.
