He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward Dodson Sr. and Lucy Betty Hairston Moon; and his siblings, Lorene Stockton, Frank Harris and Floyd Harris.
He is survived by: his wife Faith Carter Dodson; his children, Cheryl Dodson, Shelley Hamlett, Rhonda Moore, Dirk Turner (Luciana), Tommie Lee Hamlett Jr. (Rachel), Quinton Hamlett (Africa), Desmond Prillaman and Samuel Hairston; and his siblings, Vivian Cook, Jackie Dodson, Katie Harris, Naomi Aytch, Elizabeth Hairston, Martha Harris, James Edward Dodson Jr. (Robin) and Marshall Hairston (Phyllis). He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Saturday, March 1st 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Shiloh Temple Apostle Church (60 Shiloh Hills Rd, Ridgeway, VA 24148).
