With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Shirley Hairston Benton of Martinsville, Virginia, who passed away on January 17, 2021 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Clay Hairston and Ruby Watkins Hairston; her husband Herman "Himond" Lester Benton; and her brother Charles Hairston. She is survived by: her children, Douglas Benton (Jackie), Aaron Ray Benton (Sonji Trell) and Nada Hairston (Troy); her siblings, Annette Benton and Lloyd Hairston; her grandchildren, Latoya Barnwell, Tamika Dillard, Michael Canup, Lindsay Canup, Ashley Canup, Aaron "AJ" Benton, Dion Hairston and Christopher Hairston; and her great grandchild Kaiyan Fuller. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
The service will be according to CDC guidelines with mask and social distancing required.
