She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh Smith Kearfott and Kathryn Barr Kearfott; her husband Robert John Burns; her son Hugh Kearfott Burns; and her sister Mary Elizabeth Kearfott Giles.
She is survived by: her children, Michael John Burns and Mary Kathryn Burns (Randy) of Washington; and her grandchildren, Charles Edward of Washington, Melissa Cross of Washington, Christopher Miles of Washington, Kimberly Ann Burns Freeman, Steven James Burns, Emily Kathryn Burns Orr and Joseph Conrad Burns. She is also survived by four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nature Conservancy or Mountain Valley Hospice.
