We bid farewell to Nell Thornton Waldron of Martinsville, Virginia, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on April 17, 2025 at the age of 79. Nell Thornton touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Thornton and Dorothy Thornton; her stepmother Marlene Thornton; her sister Ann Key; her husband Neal Waldron; her son Mark Waldron; and her grandson Zach Martin.
She is survived by: her daughter Kelly Proffitt (Ron); her daughter-in-law Marie Waldron; her stepson Greg Waldron (Tammy); her siblings, Linda Stone and Russell Thornton (Iris); her grandchildren, Brett Stone (Amanda), Logan Waldron, Blake Martin (Brittany), Abigail and Kara Proffitt; her great grandchildren, Saylor Stone, Brielle, Emersyn, Lilly and Valorie Martin; and her close friends, Gloria Stone, Nancy Proffitt and Nancy Stanley. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 at 1:00 PM and at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
