Though Nannie may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Nannie touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Reb Carter and Mary Lizzie Peters Carter; her husband Thomas Donnell Carter; her son Jerome Carter; and her sister Callie Coles.
She is survived by: her children, Thomas Carter (Gwendolyn) of Martinsville, VA and Cynthia McMillan (Wayne) of Richmond, VA; her granddaughter Tiffany Carter of Richmond, VA; and her great grandchildren, Tristan Carter of Richmond, VA and Chase Robinson of Richmond, VA. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Hairston Funeral Home (301 Fayette St, Martinsville, VA 24112). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Jerusalem Christian Church (35 Meadow Garden Ln, Martinsville, VA 24112).
