She was predeceased by: her parents, James Thomas Whitehurst and Anne French Conway Whitehurst; and her husband Richard Glenn Barkhouser. She is survived by: her siblings, Dr. Arthur Wellington Whitehurst (Patsy) of Durham, NC and Anne Aurelia Whitehurst (Dawne) of Ottawa, Canada.; her children, James Everett Barkhouser (Kristina) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Helen Rhymer Barkhouser Collier (Kent) of Seneca, SC and Robert Hoge Barkhouser of Parkton, MD; her grandchildren, Richard Andrew Barkhouser, Jacob Daniel Barkhouser, Hannah Loren Collier, Loren Everett Barkhouser, Charlotte Anne Barkhouser, Sarah Kathryn Barkhouser, Austin Ryan Spitler (Taren) and Brianna Spitler Beasley (Cory); her great grandchild Eleanor Rose Beasley; and her grandchildren, Judy Mills Barkhouser and Malynda Dobler Barkhouser (Lynde). She is also survived by four nieces and nephews.
