She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnny Coleman Royal, Sr. and Hillie Price Royal; her husband Benjamin Hairston; her daughter Joan Smith; and her siblings, Estelle Stuart, Mary Ann Cook, Emma Pearl Hairston, Johnny Coleman Royal, Jr., William Royal and Joe Royal.
She is survived by: her daughters, Brenda Schmidt of Martinsville, VA and Gwendolyn Carter (Thomas) of Martinsville, VA; her sisters, Nannie Miller of Eden, NC and Nora Hines of Galloway, NJ; her grandchildren, John Schmidt (Jada), Tiffany Carter and Ashley Smith; her great grandchildren, Jaquan Schmidt, Tristan Carter and Chase Robertson; and her nieces, Jessie Allen of Eden, NC and Barbara Johnson of Martinsville, VA. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
In accordance with the CDC, a face covering and social distancing is required.
