She was predeceased by: her parents, John Henry and Lucy Taylor Preston Hairston. She is survived by: her granddaughter Melissa Dodson; her nephew James Dodson; her children, Vivian Cook, Jennifer Dodson (James), Tommie Dodson (Freda) and James Dodson (Robin); and her sister-in-law Annie Hairston (Harry). She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren.
