He was predeceased by: his parents, George J. Mebane and Claudia Elnora Vincent Mebane; and his wife Marvia P. Mebane. He is survived by: his daughter Larissa Mebane Woods (Preston) of Richmond, VA; his siblings, Leon Mebane of Birmingham, AL, Kenneth Mebane of Graham, NC and Naomi Ingram of Elon, NC; and his stepchildren, Jeanette Preston of Roanoke, VA, Rochell McKenzie (Marvin) of Chatham, VA, Sherman Payne of Martinsville, VA, Christopher Payne (Margaret) of Roanoke, VA and Mark Payne of Memphis, TN. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Viewing will be held on Friday, December 6th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Hairston Funeral Home (301 Fayette St, Martinsville, VA 24112). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the New Sharon Grove Missionary Baptist Church (3593 Wyatt Farm Rd, Axton, VA 24054).
