It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Robert Scales (Martinsville, Virginia), born in Columbus, Ohio, who passed away on August 1, 2021, at the age of 64, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, David Scales and Vergie Robinson Scales; his wife Carolyn S. Scales; his children, Jeanetta Carter of Youngstown, OH, Adrian Scales of Chatham, VA, Joseph Spencer (Kenyatta) of Troutville, VA, Jason Spencer of Danville, VA and Justin Spencer (Amanda) of Collinsville, VA; his siblings, Annette Harris (Edward) of Jersey City, NJ, Howard Scales (Belinda) of Axton, VA and David Scales (Brinda) of Martinsville, VA; and his grandchildren, Makii Scales, Isaiah Scales, Harley Spencer, Joshua Spencer, Joel Spencer, Brayden Spencer, Brooke Rivers, Paydence Hedrick and Haden Rakes. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
