He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Hylton Mitchell; his daughters, Michelle Mitchell Johnson (Todd) of Raleigh, NC and Margaret Mitchell Burkhart; his grandsons, Ian Mitchell Johnson and Jon Anthony Burkhart; and his siblings, Pauleen Williams and Robert "Butch" Mitchell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
