He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Barker and Irene Griffith Barker; and his brother Roger Barker. He is survived by: his wife Linda Hankins Barker; his son John D. Barker Jr. (Vanessa); his grandchildren, Karli, Lucas, Adalyn and Alexander; and his sisters, Joann Lillard (Herman), Mary Stone (Randy) and Vicki Barnes. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Blackberry Church Cemetery.
