She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Hodges and Nannie E. Hodges; her husband James E. Newman; her granddaughter Kimberly Michelle Newman; and her siblings, Willie Hodges, Raymond Hodges, Bessie Acree, Josephine Anthony, Betty Roark, Norma Jean Gibbs and Sally Gamber.
She is survived by: her children, James Michael Newman (Kaye), Jane C. Newman and Joyce Newman Halla; her grandchildren, Brian P. Newman, Katherine N. Yancy (Paul) and James "Jamie" William Halla; her great grandchild Landen James Bradley; and her siblings, Bobby Hodges (Emma Lou), Daisy Gibbs (Anton), Ruth Hundley and Margaret Moore. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
