He was predeceased by: his mother Virginia B. Lester; and his grandsons, Joseph Allen McCoy Jr. and Elijah McCoy. He is survived by: his father Charles B. Lester Jr.; his wife Peggy M. Lester; his children, Joseph McCoy, James Lester Jr. (Samantha), Timothy Lester (Tiffany) and Hannah Harmon (Aaron); his grandchildren, Emily McCoy, Eli Lester, Ethan Lester, Sadie Lester, Caroline Elkins, Alexzandria Lester and Allison Elkins; and his siblings, Matthew Lester, Johnny Lester (Stephanie), Mark Lester (Sharon), Luke Lester (Sarah), Daniel Lester and Rebecca Lester. He is also survived by extended family and dear friends.
A funeral service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 5:00 PM, on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the White Stone Old Regular Baptist Church (2864 Muddy Fork Rd, Bassett, VA 24055). A burial was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at the same location.
