It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Early J Wood Jr. (Martinsville, Virginia), who passed away on August 24, 2023, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Early Josiah Wood, Sr. and Virginia Barnes Wood. He is survived by: his wife Jane Dickerson Wood of Martinsville, VA; his children, John Philip Wood (Brittany) of Garner, NC, David Josiah Wood of Fieldale, VA and Emily Jane Wood Sumner (Shaun) of Raleigh, NC; his sisters, Debra Wood (Debby) and Ellen Lou Wood of Martinsville; his grandchildren, Tatum James Wood, Titus John Wood, Trenton Jack Wood of Garner, NC and Scarlet Jane Sumner of Raleigh, NC.; and his sister-in-law Gwen Dickerson Hedgepeth of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
