She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Hagwood and Annie Mae Martin Hagwood; her husband Elsworth Johnson; her son Henry Lee Hairston; and her siblings, Martha Hagwood, Rosa Mae Hagwood, William "Ed" Hagwood, Jesse James Hagwood and Ernest "June" Hagwood.
She is survived by: her children, Sheila Thompson (Alexander), Garry Hagwood, Sr., Timothy Hairston, Jesse Hairston and Donell Hairston; her siblings, Louise Gibbins and Lloyd Hagwood; and her grandchildren, Turquoise Davis, Darrius Busby, Da'Reake Busby, Aleisha Hagwood, Garry Hagwood, Jr., Aleana Hairston and Loletha Vaughn. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
