He was predeceased by: his parents, James Whaling and Muriel Foster Whaling; and his siblings, Charlie Whaling, Herman Whaling, Pete Whaling, Fred Whaling, Carol Whaling and Sylvia Whaling.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Whaling of Martinsville, VA; his children, Gina Whaling Dorko of Atlanta, GA, Barry Whaling of Hilton Head, SC and Tammy Whaling Brown of Tazwell, VA; his stepdaughter Vickie VanHall of Bristol, TN; and his sisters, Mildred Belcher, Virgie Musick, Eva Schroeter, Ruth Uhalde and Freda Higdon. He is also survived by 4 Grandchildren, 2 Step Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
