It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Cheryl Murphy of Martinsville, Virginia, born in Charlotte, North Carolina, who passed away on June 21, 2024, at the age of 61, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Kenneth Howard (Wanda Rhodes) and Laverne Pryor Rhodes (Roderick Beard); her husband Mark Murphy of Martinsville, VA; her pets, Maggie and Myke; her children, Amber Shortt (Jacob) of Blacksburg, VA, Jacqueline Thompson of Floyd, VA, John Kiker of Stanfield, NC and Matt Kiker (Tressa) of Monroe, NC.; and her siblings, Donna Rhodes of Columbia, SC, Ken Rhodes of Lake Wylie, SC and Cindy Moore of Clover, SC..
Toward the end of her working career, she continued a life of service as a COVID caseworker for the State of VA.
