She was predeceased by: her parents, Grady "Cliff" Deatherage and Virginia Dell Cook Deatheage; her husband Cecil Handy; and her siblings, George, Grady, Joe, Jesse Deatherage and Mary Alice Harris.

She is survived by: her daughters, Dianne Mason of West Virginia, Margaret Sims of Martinsville and Ruth Anne Lipes of Martinsville; and her sister Mickey Crowell of Florida. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
