She was predeceased by: her parents, James Edwards and Beatrice Edwards; her husband Earnest Lawson; her son J. D. Thomas; and her stepsister Bertha Belcher.
She is survived by: her son Benny "B. J."; her grandchildren, Christopher Thomas (Thaddeus), Joshua Thomas (Courtney Hunt) of Reidsville, Aubrey Thomas and Mikayla; her great grandchild A. J.; her brother Paul Edwards of East Bend, NC; the father of her children Luther Thomas; and her pet Tiger.
