He was predeceased by: his wife Alma Jo Sexton; and his parents, Roscoe Sexton and Clelia Sexton. He is survived by: his daughter Laura Steele (Robert C. Steele, Jr.) of Troutdale; his sisters-in-law, Fran Armstrong of Uxbridge, Anna Chandler of Independence, Betty Martin (Erwin) of Galax, Janet Johnson of Goshen, Angie Paisley (Jerry) of Hiddenite, N. C. and Bonnie Sexton of Troutdale; his grandchildren, Cheyenne Steele of Troutdale, Hunter Steele Wyatt (Emma Buchanan) of Culpepper and Michael Steele (Ashley Brown) of Chilhowie; his great grandchild Robert Clyde Steele of Chilhowie; and his cousin Virginia Baker of Charleston, S. C.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
