He was predeceased by: his parents, George D. Hicks and Stella Hicks; his son Michael Hicks; and his siblings, Matthew Hicks (Jeanette), Marilyn Hicks, June Arnold (Gene), Sadie Jackson (Ernest) and Gussie Surber (William).
He is survived by: his wife Mary O. Hicks; his children, Gerald M. Hicks (Anita) of Marion, VA and Linda H. Hash (Eddie) of Marion, VA; and his granddaughter Jennifer H. Blair (Steve) of Bristol, VA. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the First Church of God or to the Alzheimer's Association.
