He was predeceased by: his father Kenneth Dean Smith; and his father-in-law Joe Kenney. He is survived by: his wife Lisa Kenney Smith; his children, Paige Smith Hall (Keith) of Reston, VA, Dustin Smith of Fredericksburg, VA and Seth Ratliff (Caiti) of Stafford, VA; his grandchildren, Aspen, Liam and Amelia Hall; his siblings, Cindy Surface (Dan) of Marion, VA, Greg Smith of Chilhowie, VA and Tim Smith (Rachel) of Richmond, VA; his mother-in-law Dale Hubble Kenney of Roanoke, VA; his brother-in-law Jody Kenney of Roanoke, VA; and his mother Joyce Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
