He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Thomas and Lucy Thomas; his wife Emma Pauline Thomas; his daughter Sharon Coalson; and his siblings, Earl Thomas, Freddie Thomas, Frances Thompson, Teenie Thomas and Wanda Harris.

He is survived by: his sons, James Thomas and Christopher Thomas; his siblings, Jerry Thomas, Larry Thomas and Anna Mae Cardwell (Frog); his grandchildren, Stacey Thomas, Deanna Kirby, Josh Coalson, Teresa, Miranda Goble and Micheal; and his great grandchildren, Dylan, Maddy, Devin, Jacob, Christopher, Mickey, Ella and Shawn. He is also survived by three great-great-grandchildren.
