He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry C. Freeman and Artie Hutton Freeman; his daughter Beverly Georgiana Freeman; his brother Robert T. Freeman; his nieces, Joan Carla Freeman Sweet and Cynthia V. Freeman; his nephew Charles Wiley Price; and his great-niece Jenny Lynn Sweet.

He is survived by: his wife Lois Faye Medley Freeman; his stepson James W. Medley (Lisa) of Galax, VA; his siblings, Herbert E. Henry Freeman (Sylvia) of Marion and Mary Freeman Price (Wiley) of Abingdon; his nephew George E. Price; and his cousin Caroline Hamm Taurus of Cheyenne, WY..
