He was predeceased by: his parents, William Stanley and Martha Stanley; his wife Mary Ruffin (Skookie); his children, Thomas Ruffin, Jr. (Cedy) and Belinda Ruffin (Wendy); his siblings, William Stanley, III and Loanie Davis; his brother-in-law Roger Davis; his nephew William Stanley, IV; and his niece Martha Brummett.

He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Helen Ruffin; his grandchildren, Thomas Ruffin, III, Lyle Birchfield, III and Cassandra Fairfax (Casey); his great grandchildren, Aubrie Ruffin and Trinity Harris; and his friend Blansett.
