He was predeceased by: his wife Audrey Thompson (Morgan); his daughter Sharon Thompson Tiller; his sisters, Dora Mae Runyon (Arvil), Dixie and Gladys Thompson; and his parents, Floyd Thompson and Mary Thompson.

He is survived by: his son David Thompson (Melody) of Madison; his granddaughter Keri Thompson (Will) of Madison; his great grandchildren, Grace, Will, Claire and Sophia; and his brother Frank Thompson (Elaine) of Scott Depot.
