He was predeceased by: his parents, Reginald Ray Caldwell and Margaret Wilson Caldwell; his son Ricky E. Caldwell, Jr.; and his brothers, Vernon R. Caldwell, Danny L. Caldwell and Freddie W. Caldwell.

He is survived by: his daughters, Vicky Caldwell of Madison Heights and Angiealic Souza (Steve) of Madison Heights; his grandchildren, Chase Wood of South Carolina and Anthony Souza of Madison Heights; his sister-in-law Rita Caldwell of Huddleston; his close friend Thomas Coleman of Richmond; and his pet Leo. He is also survived by three nephews; four great-nieces; two great-nephews.
