It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Rachel Josephine Proffitt (Madison Heights, Virginia), born in Lynchburg, Virginia, who passed away on April 13, 2019, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Earl Ward Proffitt; her father John Dewey Clements; and her siblings, John D. Clements and Barbara White. She is survived by: her children, Patricia Wilson (James) of Madison Heights, Virginia Watts (E. A. Williams) of Lynchburg, Wallace W. Proffitt (Lillian) of Madison Heights and Michael E. Proffitt (Gypsy) of Madison Heights; and her sister Julia Stinnette of Lynchburg. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
