He is survived by: his wife Nancy Ford Ayers; his children, Vicki Ayers Page of Concord and L. J. "Jimmy" Ayers, III (Nancy) of Monroe; his sisters, Coleen Duke, Lois Young and Joyce Mayhugh; and his grandchildren, L. J. "Jamie" Ayers, IV, Rebecca Page and Jordan Ayers.
