He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin and Mary E. Carter; his siblings, Virginia E. Henderson and John Carter; his brother-in-law Velton T. Garden; his aunt Virginia Ford; and his uncle Jessie Irving.
He is survived by: his wife Ernestine; his stepson Vincent Jackson of Lynchburg; his siblings, Alice Roberta Gardner of Lynchburg and Warren Carter of Maryland; and his siblings-in-law, Chestine Henderson of Tye River, Ruth Bailey of Monroe and Dorothy Carter of Tye River. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
