We are sad to announce that on April 8, 2019, at the age of 83, Joan Berckman Shephard (Madison Heights, Virginia) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband William Pendleton "Penny" Shephard; her parents, James Hester Berckman and Othalia Bozeman Berckman; and her siblings, Van S. Berckman and Gypsie Berckman.
She is survived by: her brothers, Edwin M. Berckman of Greensboro, N. C. and Douglas C. Berckman of Gastonia, N. C.; her close friend Carol Dennis; and also Cooper. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
