He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph E. Moss and Hida C. Moss; his granddaughter Alyssa Ware Branham; his son-in-law Edwin Carroll Fitzgerald; and his siblings, Gordon Overstreet, Mildred M. Overstreet, Gertrude "Dutchy" M. Phelps, Evelyn M. Lehnen, Margaret "Peggy" M. Barkell, Jean M. Parrent and Wanda M. Watson.

He is survived by: his daughters, Jody Moss Thomas (John), Jan Moss Thomas (Clayton), Jackie Moss Fitzgerald and Jennifer Moss Fielder (Emmett); his sister-in-law Carolyn Lee Johnson Thompson (Carlton); his grandchildren, Lindsay, Brandie, Daniel, Cody, Heather, Jaime, Dakota, Joseph and Sienna; and his friend Jaycee. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, lots of loving nieces and nephews as well as his other family.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Joe's memory may be made to Union Christian Church.
