She was predeceased by: her spouse Joseph Preston Dowdy, Jr.; her parents, Raleigh Thornton Clay and Bessie Brown Clay; her son Patrick Dowdy; and her siblings, Elsie DeJarnette, Lorene Shelton, Jane Shelton, DeRoy Clay and Lawson Clay.
She is survived by: her son Michael Dowdy of Pageland, SC; her siblings, Thelbert Clay (Bettie) of Lynchburg and Adell Conner of Alton; her grandchildren, Joshua Dowdy and Brandy Sutherland (Brian); and her great grandchildren, Bryson Sutherland and Braden Sutherland. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
