He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Lindsey Meeks and Beatrice Mitchell Meeks; and his brother Roger Meeks. He is survived by: his spouse Deborah Gail Smith Meeks; his children, Donna Burley (James, Crystal Sanchez), Jonathan Swift and Jeannie Bruce (Keith); his stepson Richard Smith (Tanya); his grandchildren, Krissy Burley, Kyle Sanchez, Bobbi Jean Meeks, Evan Swift, Tyler Smith, Meagan Smith and Jason Smith; and his close friend Joshua Sanchez. He is also survived by numerous nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, Gene requested that memorial contributions be made to Temple Christian School, 4465 S. Amherst HWY, Madison Heights, VA 24572.
