It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Deacon Wesley McKinley Franklin (Madison Heights, Virginia), born in Amherst, Virginia, who passed away on December 28, 2019, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Franklin and Mary Franklin; his siblings, Mary Elizabeth, Thomas 'June' (Louise), Edward Lee (Aretha), Benjamin (Christine) and John Daniel Franklin; his children, Kathy Sue, James Wesley 'Slim' and Ernest Tyrone 'Bear' Franklin; his grandson James Wesley 'Jay' Franklin Jr; his great grandchild Dedric Shyheim Megginson; and his brothers-in-law, Robert (Marian), Rossie (Dorothy), Clarence (Emily) and Onie Sparrow.
He is survived by: his sisters-in-law, Dorothy (James), Doretha Woodson (Lewis) and Lucille Vaughter; his wife Kathleen Franklin; his siblings, Robert 'Mac' Franklin, Betty Franklin and Barbara Bowling; his children, Stella Franklin, Shirley Gillispie, Martha Franklin, Robert (Marcella), McKinley (Gwen) and Donald Franklin (Margaret); his daughter-in-law Phyllis Chilton; and his sisters-in-law, Ophelia Franklin, Vernell Sparrow and Twenty. He is also survived by Twenty-five grandchildren, fifty-three great grandchildren, twenty-three great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
