She was predeceased by: her husband George Spady Whitman, Sr.; her parents, Grover Lee Lafferty, Sr. and Elizabeth Hamblin Lafferty; her siblings, Edward, Bart Lafferty and Barbara Smith Dickerson; and her daughter-in-law Susie Whitman.
She is survived by: her children, Georgie, George S. Whitman, Jr. of Machipongo, Steven C. Whitman of Georgia, Wanda W. Miller (Danny) of Delaware, Teresa W. Miller (Mark) of Delaware and David F. Whitman of Delaware; her siblings, Mary Bennett, Frank, Grover, Abbie, Colleen and Betty Jo; her grandchildren, Andrew Miller (Belle) of Delaware, Andrea Miller of Delaware, Chelli Miller of Delaware, David Whitman, Jr. (Carley) of Delaware and Dale Miller of Delaware; and her close friend Nancy Mapp. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
