He is survived by: his former wife Katy Mawyer Cheatham; his children, Irvin Michael Grant (Darlene, Clayton "Terry"), Phillip Ray Grant and Virginia G. Bowling (Dexter, Carolyn G.); his grandchildren, Wayne Bowling (Caren), Sarah Hudson (Shep), Amanda Bowling, Lisa Major (Jason), Aaron Grant, Cameron Grant, Melissa Grant and Christopher Clatterbuck; and his stepgrandchildren, Megan Mason (Danny) and Travis Tyree. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
