With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ellis James Stocks of Lynchburg, Virginia, born in Kinston, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 21, 2024 at the age of 79. He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace E. Stocks and Penny Louise Sumerell Stocks. He is survived by: his wife Connie Nelson Stocks; his son Col. James A. Stocks (Patti) of Stafford, VA; his stepsons, Jeremy Brown (Stephanie) of Lynchburg, VA and Brian Brown (Samantha) of Lynchburg, VA; his daughter Jody S. Williams (Greg) of Newport News, VA; his siblings, Henry "Hank" Stocks (Susan) of Churchville, MD, Emma Mae Stocks Dunn (Robert) of Ayden, NC and Kay Stocks Cisco (Travis) of Newbern, NC; his grandchildren, Rusty Williams, Benjamin Stocks, Matthew Stocks, Caroline Stocks, Amber Klein, Cameron Brown, Austin Brown and Tenly Brown; and his pets, Allie and Willa Grace.
