He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Lee Matney and Arminda Church Matney. He is survived by: his wife Heide Marie Matney; his daughters, Dorothy Matney Spinks (Hugh) of Waynesboro, Diane Matney Dunning (Doug) of Lynchburg and Nanette Matney Turner (Brian) of Appomattox, Virginia; his grandsons, Bobby Dunning (Dabney) of Rustburg and Christopher Dunning of Lynchburg; his great grandchildren, Everett and Leo Dunning of Rustburg, Virginia; his siblings, Charlie, Paul Matney, Gay Patton, Linda Lucado and Joanne; and his friend Andy Townsend. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Beulah Baptist Church (528 Leesville Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24502). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
