He was predeceased by: his parents, W. R. "Raleigh" Chumney and May Bell Walker Chumney; his brother W. R. "Sonny" Chumney; his niece Mary Agnes Harrison; and his nephews, William James Chumney and Marvin Duane Valencourt.
He is survived by: his wife Ardella Valencourt Chumney; his daughter Valerie Ann Chumney; his siblings, Florence Spaulding and Tommy Chumney (Linda); and his nieces and nephews, Carrie Gorsuch, Janice Lee Rice, Thomas Chumney, Jr., Matthew Chumney, Jonathan Chumney, Scott Alan Richardson, Andrew Clark Richardson and Steven Robbins Valencourt.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church (73 Meherrin River Rd, Chase City, VA 23924). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
