He was predeceased by: his parents, George Thomas Cox, Jr. and Ruby Newman Cox Mattox; and his siblings, Frank Cox, Terry Cox, Mary Francis Wood, Paula Wood and Rachel Lloyd.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda "Bren" Cox; his sons, Tommy Cox (Ashley) of Hurt and Toby Cox (Julia) of Lynch Station; his brothers, Robert Cox of Hurt, Willie Cox (Josephine) of Evington, Danny Cox of Huddleston and Roy Mattox (Danielle) of Madison Heights; his grandchildren, Dakota, Drake and Mason; and his close friends, Eddie Shields and Mike Tyree. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Centra Hospice, 2097 Langhorne Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
