It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Helen Iris Wilkes Hines (Luray, Virginia), born in Roanoke, Virginia, who passed away on June 16, 2021, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, John Hammet Wilkes and Verna Gertrude Howell Wilkes; her brother John Hammet "Jakey" Wilkes, Jr.; her husband Calvin Nathaniel Hines; her son Donald Wayne Hines; and her granddaughter Kimberly Dawn Chrisman.

She is survived by : her daughter Carolyn Sue Hines Chrisman (Roger); her daughter-in-law Josie Hines of Murray, Kentucky.; her grandsons, Bryan Todd Chrisman of Bentonville, VA, Chad Evan Chrisman (Karen) of Ashburn, VA and Travis Nathaniel Orndorff of Frederick County, VA; and her great grandchildren, Braden Matthew Chrisman of Ashburn, VA. and Tayler Anne Chrisman of Ashburn, VA.. She is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for consideration of memorial donations in Iris' name to the Page United Methodist Church.

“Dear Caroline My family and I spent this afternoon talking about our memories of your mom and dad and how nice a family you all were. Mom told us she was sometimes jealous of your mom because she would get better jobs than most but she said your mom deserved them because she was so smart at what she did. My memories of you and Donnie I cherish, Donnie for being a good friend and you for being that cute, sassy girl I thought was the cutest on the block but so mean to us guys. Bob Craig & famil”
