He was predeceased by: his wife Grace Berry Owens; his parents, James Lewis Owens and Estelle Thorpe Owens; his daughter Jo Ellen Smith; and his siblings, Don Washington Owens, Roy E. Owens, William Lloyd Owens and Violet Virginia Brubaker.
He is survived by: his children, John Gray Owens (Linda) of Roanoke, Larry James Owens (Barbara) of Glasgow, Don Michael Owens (Joyce) of Covington, Mary Olivia Corker of Pinetta, FL, Sandra Dale Craft (Melvin) of Lewisburg, WV, Anise Colleen Richmond of Covington, Rita Carol Hobbs of Lynchburg, VA, Anne Marie Owens (Kaye) of Baltimore, MD and Tina Louise Owens (Melody) of Harrisonburg, VA. He is also survived by grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 28th 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Loving Funeral Home (350 N Maple Ave, Covington, VA 24426). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 at 3:30 PM at the Chapel of Loving Funeral Home (350 N Maple Ave, Covington, VA 24426).
