She was predeceased by: her parents, Mattie Ball and Charles Ball; her husband William Clarence Hess; her daughters, Betty Deacon and Linda A. Nuckols; and her son-in-law Steve Rudich.
She is survived by: her children, Charles T. "Tommy" Hess (Merri) of Charleston, SC, John Hess (Francis) of Lewiston, ME, Barbara S. Rudich of Stafford, Carol J. Nuckols (Danny) of Bumpass and Ann Sprouse (Walter) of Louisa; and her sister Deloris Smith of Clayton, NC. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
