He was predeceased by: his parents, Booker Glass and Pearl McDaniel Glass; his siblings, Dorothy Lucille Glass Cutright and Lewis Booker Glass; and his grandson Richard Sterling Glass Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Betty Ingalls Glass; his sons, James Stuart Jr. (Debbie), Victor Wayne (Stacey) and Richard Sterling (Kathleen); and his sister Besse Estelle Glass Mackey. He is also survived by four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
