James Richard Rutherford Obituary
Major US Army James Richard “Jim” Rutherford (Ret.), 75, passed away on November 8th, 2021 at his Country home at Lake Anna Virginia. He was born on September 21st, 1946 in Manitowoc Wisconsin to Kenneth and Bertha Rutherford. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc Wisconsin and received a degree in Criminology while serving in the US Army.
Jim’s introduction to the US Army was being sent overseas to Germany for Airborne Training then off to the tropical wonderland of Vietnam. Upon his arrival back home in Manitowoc Wisconsin he was greeted at the door of his parents home by complete strangers… They moved, nice job Grandpa Kenneth. Afterward is when he found his loving wife Susan and they were married in August of 1970. Jim then became a Police Officer for the Manitowoc County Police Department for 10 years. He then re-enlisted in the Army to pursue an Officers role and was able to reach the ranks of Major before retirement. The Major took to retirement like a Packer fan takes to a Bears fan and quickly found his way as a United States Secret Service Agent and worked among the Treasury division to then help the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children Organization, rescuing dozens of children. Again retirement being his mortal enemy and after 11 years with the USSS, he then found yet another amazing career in the private sector.
Jim is survived by his wife Susan Rutherford; children Chad (Kelly) and Ben (Ashley); 4 grandchildren Rebekah and Ryan; Rivers and Rudy.
